Sweet Adelines International is now SingUnited International, but our roots and legacy as Sweet Adelines remain an important part of our identity. Legally, we continue as Sweet Adelines International, doing business as SingUnited International. Since 1945 we are still the world's largest women's singing organization. We are singers, united-bringing connection, belonging and unity across countries, cultures, friendship and music to the world! With nearly 21,000 members and counting. Our mission? Elevating women singers worldwide through education, performance and competition in barbershop harmony and a cappella music. With members across five continents. our singers transcend borders and generations as we come together to harmonize the world.
What is Barbershop
Barbershop is the heart and soul of Sweet Adelines. Often referred to as the "extreme sport" of the music world. Barbershop is a classic genre where singers perform four-part harmonies, all a cappella. What makes barbershop unique is the overtone it produces. While it is challenging, the achievement of its unique sound is amazingly rewarding.
